Civil Litigation & Disputes
When someone breaks a deal with you, harms you through carelessness or takes your money by lying to you, I'll look at what happened and tell you honestly where you stand. I've litigated in Georgia since 2017, in state and federal court.
What you'd say, and what the law calls it
You don't need to know the legal name for what happened to you. That's my job. Here's how the way people describe it lines up with the claims I handle for individuals.
-
“The contractor took my deposit and walked off the job.”
Contract dispute
Someone didn't do what they agreed to do. A contractor who left the work half done, a seller who never delivered, or a written or verbal deal that fell apart.
-
“Their carelessness cost me, and they won't take responsibility.”
Negligence
A claim that someone's carelessness caused you harm or financial loss, and that they should answer for it.
-
“He lied to me to get my money.”
Fraud
Being deliberately misled, by false statements or by facts kept from you, and losing money or property because of it.
-
“What they did was so outrageous I still can't get past it.”
Intentional infliction of emotional distress
Claims over extreme, outrageous conduct that caused serious emotional harm. These cases turn on their facts, so the details matter from the start.
-
“She's telling people something about me that isn't true.”
Defamation
False statements that damage your reputation. It's a big part of my practice, so it has its own page.
How I handle defamation
Either side of a lawsuit
You want to bring a claim
Bring what you have. I'll tell you honestly whether it's worth pursuing and what it would take.
- the contract
- the texts
- the receipts
- the photos
Often the first step is a demand letter. When it calls for one, a lawsuit in state or federal court.
You've been sued, or got a demand letter
Don't set it aside.
A lawsuit comes with a deadline to respond, and a demand letter usually names one too. Call early so there's time to look at your options.
I read the papers with you, explain what they claim, and then answer the demand or defend the case, or find the practical way out when there is one.

One litigator, on your case from the first call
Before Georgia, I clerked for a federal judge, the Hon. Harvey E. Schlesinger of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Since 2017 I've practiced civil litigation here, at large and small firms and now in my own practice. When you hire me, I'm the lawyer on your matter from start to finish, and you know how it will be billed before work begins.
Tell me what happened.
A 30-minute consultation is $100, by video or phone, or in person by appointment. Litigation is $305 an hour, and other flexible billing arrangements are available.
